For the First Time Ever, Race will Travel from South to North, Starting in Escondido

 LOS ANGELES (November 27, 2012) – Twelve cities have been named official Host City partners for the 2013 Amgen Tour of California by AEG, presenter of the race, helping to make up the route which will take riders on a South to North course for the first time in the eight-year race history. Considered America’s largest and most prestigious professional road cycling stage race, the eighth consecutive edition of the Amgen Tour of California will travel approximately 750 miles from May 12-19, 2013.

Live Oak resident and semi-pro surfer Robert “Wingnut” Weaver scored a wild card alternate position in the World Longboard Championships, also known as the ShenZhou Peninsula Pro, on 2- to 3-foot waves on Hainan Island, China, earlier today.

Weaver earned seven points to finish third behind Brazil’s Rodrigo Sphaier [14:35] and fellow American Mike Stidham [8.50] in the first round. Then, in the second round, Weaver [6.90] was eliminated by Australia’s Harley Ingleby [13.75] in their two-man heat.
