Santa Cruz resident Stefano Profumo and Aptos resident Olivia Berhan won the men’s and women’s divisions of the Santa Cruz Turkey Trot 10-kilometer race at West Cliff Drive on Saturday.

Profumo, 34, crossed the finish line in 35:40 with a 5:45 per-mile pace. Santa Cruz’s Julian Sunn, 27, followed just 10 seconds later to take second, and Christopher Ratliff, 42, rounded out the top three in 35:57.

Berhan, 12, was the top female finisher, completing the race in 45:30 for the win and 31st place overall. Aptos’ Polly Feyereisn, 34, took second [46:20], and Woodside’s Erika Kikuchi, 34, placed third [47:10].

Fifteen-year-old Javier Azona of Hollister won the 5k, which was run in conjunction with the 10k, in 17:44, and Soquel’s Michelle Kern was the women’s winner in 19:25. Kern, 48, was ninth overall.

The race is an annual event hosted by the Santa Cruz Track Club. Results are from the Santa Cruz Track Club website.

Santa Cruz resident Stefano Profumo placed eighth in the 34th annual Napa Valley Marathon in Calistoga on Sunday. Profumo crossed the finish line in 2 hours, 41 minutes, 43 seconds — about 15 minutes off winner Chris Mocko of San Francisco. Mocko won in 2:24:38.

The only other Santa Cruz County resident to make the top 100 was Capitola’s Max Selleck, who finished 95th in 3:13:57.

The event also runs a 5-kilometer race. Area competitors to make the top 100 of that were Capitola’s John Hofacre placed 51st in 23:58 and Santa Cruz’s Spencer Spetnagel placed 54th in 24:02.

Santa Cruz’s Stefano Profumo won Brazen Racing‘s Bay Breeze 10-kilometer race from the San Leandro Marina Park on Saturday, finishing the course in 34 minutes, 46 seconds.

His 5:36 per mile pace was enough to edge Berkeley’s Brian Collett, who was second in 35:19, and Oakland’s Tim Stahler, who was third in 36:50.

San Francisco’s Meghan Morris was the top female finisher, coming in 10th overall [40:56].

In the Bay Breeze Half Marathon, the top local finisher was Santa Cruz’s Carl Roth, who crossed the finish line for 11th place in 1:27:41.

Tim Long won [1:21:02] and San Francisco’s Adriane Puetz was the top female finisher [15th overall, 1:30:10].

In the Bay Breeze 5k, Elk Grove’s Greg Mandler [18:43] won and Oakland’s Amy Brennick was the top female finisher [ninth overall, 21:21].

The next Brazen Racing event includes the Hellyer Half Marathon, 10k and 5k. The races are scheduled for March 3 at Hellyer County Park.
