Scotts Valley’s Jennifer Reither, a pro cyclist with Vanderkitten, won her division in the Central Coast Cyclocross Series’ second road race of the season in Monterey on Sunday, and teammate Courtney Dimpel placed second.

Reither took control in the women’s Cat 1/2/3 division, Capitola’s Dimpel followed, and Hillsborough’s Tracy Hogan [Third Pillar] placed third.

Also from Santa Cruz County, Santa Cruz’s Steve Heaton [HC3 Coaching] and Michele Heaton [HC3 Coaching] continued to dominate. Steve Heaton won the master men’s Cat 1/2/3/4 45-99 age division race and Michele Heaton won the master women’s Cat 1/2/3/4 35-99 age division race.

The next CCCX road race is scheduled for June 3.

Scotts Valley High student and Santa Cruz resident Gabe Multer won the 17-18 juniors cycling race at the Central Coast Circuit Races in Monterey on Sunday. Multer, who rides for Ritte Elite U23 Development Team, edged out Mill Valley’s Dillon Charlton for the victory and his second podium finish of the day, according to results released early this week.

Multer also placed fourth in the men’s Cat 4 race behind winner Chris Riekert of San Jose.

Aptos’s David Borba was another Santa Cruz County rider in good form, winning the master men’s Cat 5 45-99 age division race, and the Heatons again dominated. Steve Heaton [HC3 Coaching] won the master men’s Cat 1/2/3 35-99 age division and Michele Heaton [Sycomp Racing] won the women’s Cat 1/2/3/4 35-99 age division.

Santa Cruz resident and avid cyclist Steve Heaton won the men’s Cat 1 45-54 age division race at the Central Coast cross country series‘ second race of the season at Fort Ord in Seaside on Sunday.

Heaton [HC3 Coaching] finished five laps in 1 hour, 36 minutes, 41 seconds to easily best Seaside’s Eric Squires [Monterey Bay Racing/Don Chapin], who finished in 1:37:04 for second place, and Aptos’ Geoff Drake, who placed third in 1:41:32.

Other Santa Cruz County riders to win divisions included the following: Felton’s Tom Fox [SCC] in the men’s Cat 2 18-and-under race division completed four laps in 1:21:35, Aptos’ Greg Dolder [unattached] in the Clydesdale race completed four laps in 1:37:11, Capitola’s Steffan Anderson [SCC] in the men’s Cat 3 14-18 age division race completed three laps in 1:08:14, Santa Cruz’s Paul H. Sadoff [Bay 101/HRS/Rocklobster] in the men’s Cat 3 55-plus division race completed three laps in 1:11:44, and Aptos’ Anya Thrash in the women’s Cat 3 19-34 age division race completed three laps in 1:20:19.

Santa Cruz County riders who won their divisions uncontested are as follows: Santa Cruz’s David Gianni [SCC] in the men’s Cat 1 65-plus division completed five laps in 2:12:18, and Aptos’ Rita Borelli [TSA] in the women’s Cat 1 34-and-under division completed five laps in 1:50:10.
