At the US Rowing Southwest Junior District Championships on Lake Namota in Golder River over the weekend, Vanderstoep and his Los Gatos Rowing Club teammates powered to three wins in their early heats and qualified for nationals in the pair, 4s and 8s.

In the varsity 8s final (plus coxswain), the LGRC team took third in 6:20.18. Marin won in 6:07.60 and Long Beach Junior Crew was runner-up in 6:18.10.
