Capitola resident and professional disc golfer Valarie Jenkins finished second in the final round of the PDGA’s Brent Hambrick Memorial Open tournament in Columbus, Ohio, over the weekend.

Jenkins threw a 13-over 257 through four rounds, landing just behind winner Sarah Cunningham, who threw an 11-over 255.

Paige Pierce threw an 18-over 262 after a 36-throw final round, where Jenkins and Cunningham both managed 29s.

Jenkins’ partner Nate Doss placed 11th in the men’s open after failing to with an 8-under 208 that tied him with Devan Owens. Jenkins’ brother Avery Jenkins finished tied for 17th with Paul Oman [213]. The men’s winner was Richard Wysocki of Fort Mill, S.C., who shot a dominant epic 30-under 214 through four rounds.
