Santa Cruz resident Scott Chapin, who rides for Bicycleblue book/HRS/Rocklobster, won the elite men’s Cat 1/2/3/4 division race of the third Central Coast Cyclocross Series event of the season at Cal State-Monterey Bay on Sept. 22.

Chapin completed seven laps in 1 hour, 51 seconds — beating the next closest finisher by more than two minutes. San Francisco’s Rainier Schaefer [Mash SF] was second in 1:02:54 and Andrew Juiliano [Bicycleblue book/HRS/Rocklobster] was third in 1:03:07.

Santa Cruz County winners in other divisions were as follows: Santa Cruz’s Natasha Perry won the women’s 35-plus open race, finishing four laps in 42:21; Santa Cruz’s Chance Tiner [SCJC] won the junior men’s 15-18 age race, finishing four laps in 41:37; and Ben Lomond’s John Ryan [unattached] won the master men’s 35-plus C race, finishing four laps in 39:58.

Perry has now won three straight races.

The next series race will also be held at CSUMB, on Oct. 7.
