Capitola resident Nate Doss placed 16th as the top professional disc golfer from Santa Cruz County in the United States Disc Golf Championship in Rock Hill, S.C., last weekend.

Through four rounds, Doss finished with a 28-under 244 for a $1,090 prize.

Will Schusterick of Nashville won the event and $7,500 with a 48-under 224 and a two-throw lead over the next closest finisher.

Also from Santa Cruz County, Capitola’s Avery Jenkins tied with four others for 32nd after throwing a 15-under 257 through four rounds [$825], and Aptos’ Shasta Criss, who the previous week won the Faultline Classic at DeLaveaga, placed 44th with a 5-under 267, also through four rounds.
