Watsonville cyclist Andy Jacques-Maynes won the muddy elite division of the Central Coast Cyclocross Series race No. 6 at Manzanita Park in Prunedale as a storm moved through the area on Sunday.
Jacques-Maynes [Cal Giant/Specialized] finished eight laps in the elite men’s Cat 1/2/3/4 race in 51 minutes, 58 seconds. Millbrae’s Keith Hillier took second [Marc.Pro-strava] in 53:39, and Julian Gomez-Villafane [Ibis Buy-cell.com] took third in 54:02.
Also from Santa Cruz County, Bonny Doon’s Justin Robinson [Cal Giant] won the master men’s 35-plus “A” Cat 1/2/3/4 division, going seven laps in 45:42.; Santa Cruz’s Natasha Perry [Bicycle blue book/HRS/Rocklobster] won the master women’s 35-plus “all” division, going six laps in 53:14; Soquel’s Miles Wadsworth [Family Cycling Center] won the master men’s 45-plus “B” 2/3/4 division, going seven laps in 52:46; and Santa Cruz’s Chance Tiner [SCJC] won the junior men’s 15-18 division as the only entrant, going five laps in 40:46.
The next series race, which doubles as the USA Cycling/Northern California Nevada Cycling Association District Championships, is scheduled for Dec. 30 at Manzanita Park.
