The Bike Dojo’s Project B.I.K.E (Believe in Kids’ Exercise) is kicking off the holiday season by giving away 20 bikes to children in need. Bike Dojo is hosting the celebration event Saturday, December 15, from 12-2 p.m. — Karen Kefauver
Bike Dojo will be the hub of activity with kids showing off their new bikes and helmets. They can enjoy special treats and cookies from Pacific Cookie Company, pizza from Woodstock Pizza and goodie bags from New Leaf Community Markets.
“We are excited to help make this holiday season special for children. We can’t wait to see the smiles on their faces when they get their bike,” said Rob Mylls, Bike Dojo owner.
So far this year Project B.I.K.E has donated over 75 bikes with their charity partner Beach Flats, a program of Community Bridges. Bike Church, CASA and UCSC Co-op have also received bikes as part of Project B.I.K.E’s outreach.
At the beginning of the year Mayor Don Lane did a proclamation naming it Project Bike Day and Bike Dojo plans on continuing the great tradition of giving away bikes to children in need.
“It has been an extraordinary year and we have loved giving away bikes and contributing to the community and local charities,” Mylls said. “We have built great partnerships and want to thank our sponsors for helping us make a difference. We are looking forward to keeping up a great tradition of getting kids riding.”
Project B.I.K.E sponsors include: Spokesman Bicycles, New Leaf, Woodstock Pizza, William Ow Properties, By Marisa and Good Times.
