Santa Cruz native Raven Tershy is up for Thrasher Magaine’s Skater of the Year award.

Tershy, the first person ever from Santa Cruz County to win X Games gold, is up against 47 other nominees.

Michael Brookman won the men’s pro division of the 13th annual Tim Brauch Memorial Skateboarding contest, which was held in San Jose and Scotts Valley over the weekend. Brookman took home a cool $1,000 for his performance.

Josh Rodriquez placed second for a $600 prize and Sky Siljeg placed third for the $400 prize.

Other winners were Steve Caballero in the masters division, Lizzie Armanto in the ladies division and Tristan Rennie in the amateur division.
