Felton resident Tom Foxx won the men’s Cat 1 18-and-under cross country mountain bike race at the second Central Coast event of the season at Fort Ord in Monterey over the weekend.
Foxx, who finished 5 1/2 laps in 1 hour, 47 minutes, 32 seconds, was followed by SCC teammates Chance Tiner [second place, 1:47:34] and Soren Anderson [third place, 1:51:47].
Other winners from Santa Cruz County were as follows: Santa Cruz’s John Hauer [X-Fusion Muscle Milk/Specialized] won the Cat 1 men’s 19-34 age division race, going 5 1/2 laps in 1:40:59; Felton’s Aaron Kereluk [IBIS Adult Care] won the pro/expert single speed race, going 5 1/2 laps in 1:52:23; Santa Cruz’s Katie Melena [Bicycle Bluebook] won the expert women’s 35-plus age division race, going 5 1/2 laps in 2:03:48; Felton’s Stella Carey [Quadzilla] won the pro women’s division as the only entrant, going 5 1/2 laps in 2:10:59; Santa Cruz’s Andrew Parker [unattached] won the Clydesdale division race, going 4 1/2 laps in 1:49:45; Scotts Valley’s Hanna Fleming [SCMCT] won the women’s Cat 3 18-and-under division race, going 2 1/2 laps in 1:07:53; and Aptos’ Kathleen Bortolussi [SCC] won the women’s single speed race, going 2 1/2 laps in 1:05:18.

Santa Cruz resident John Hauer [X-Fusion] won the men’s pro division of the Central Coast downhill mountain biking race at Toro Park in Monterey on Saturday.
Hauer sped down in 2 minutes, 48.42 seconds for the win, with Concord’s Ian Massey [Point 1/WTB] taking second in 2:49.32 and Santa Cruz’s Jeff Kendall-Weed [IBIS Cycles] taking third in 2:49.56.
Other division winners from Santa Cruz County were as follows: Santa Cruz’s James Bradley [unattached] won the men’s Cat 2 45-54 age division in 3:29.21, Santa Cruz’s Elli Freiburn [Spokesman] won the women’s Cat 2 division race in 3:49.24, and Aptos’ Devin Kjaer [Family Cycling Center] was a double-winner in the junior boys 13-and-under division in 3:15.97 and the junior boys 18-and-under Cat 3 division in 3:17.20. He was the only entrant in the under-18 division.

Santa Cruz resident Mark Howland won the men’s Cat 1 45-54 age division at the Central Coast Cross Country mountain bike race No. 7 at Fort Ord near Monterey on Saturday.
Howland finished six laps in 1 hour, 59 minutes, 47 seconds and was one of just two riders in his division to stay under two hours. Howland, who rides for Family Cycling Center, was followed by Los Gatos’ Scott Zavack [1:59:53] and Aptos’ John Grube [2:00:19]. Zavack rides for Buycell.com and Grube is unattached.

Felton’s Kim Midstokke [Midstock Construction/Spokesman], in the Cat 2 men’s 35-44 age division, completed five laps in 1:35:28; Ben Lomon’s Gerry Hatcher [Scotts Valley Cycle Sport], in the Cat 2 men’s 45-54 age division, completed five laps in 1:36:16; Scotts Valley’s Scott Martin [Bicycle Trip], in the Cat 2 men’s 55-plus age division, completed five laps in 1:46:37; Santa Cruz’s Janel K. Lodge [Family Cycling Center], in the Cat 2 women’s 45-plus age division, completed five laps in 1:55:15; Aptos’ Dan Russ [unattached], in the Cat 3 men’s 55-plus age division, completed four laps in 1:31:18, and Aptos’ Anya Rush [unattached], in the Cat 3 women’s 19-34 age division, also completed four laps in 1:35:23.
