Aptos resident and professional disc golfer Shasta Criss won the open division of the Faultline Classic, a PDGA-sanctioned event in its 22nd year, at Delaveaga Disc Golf Course in Santa Cruz over the weekend.

Following 11 Professional Disc Golf Association events, Criss earned his first win of the year with three throws separating him and second-place finisher Tony Tran, also of Aptos. Criss sat in fourth place after throwing an 86 in the first round, where Tran threw a 78, but Criss rebounded with a 75 in the second round and a 36 in the final round.

Criss finished with a 4-under 197 total and Tran followed with a 1-under 200. Gregg Barsby of Grass Valley took third at even [201].

Winners of other divisions were as follows: Jason Tyra [Grass Valley] in the masters with a 2-over 203, Doug Werner [Fremont] in the grandmasters with a 3-over 177, and Jessica Weese [Grass Valley] as the only entrant in the open women with a 27-over 201.
