Capitola residents Nate Doss and Valarie Jenkins held off the competition through four rounds at the Professional Disc Golf Association-sanctioned Toronto Island Maple Leaf tournament to bring home two wins from Canada over the weekend.

Doss, the 2011 world champion, had the lowest scores of any competitor in three of four rounds in the open men’s division to finish with a 31-under 210 total.

Avery Jenkins, Valarie Jenkins’ brother also a former world champ, finished runner-up with a 19-under 222. He shot a 54 to Doss’ 55 in the second round.

Valarie Jenkins consistently threw the lowest score over four rounds in the women’s open division, matching runner-up Desiree Reading in Round 1 but earning round scores of at least two under anyone else for the rest of the tournament. Valarie Jenkins finished with a 3-over 241 for the win. Reading threw a 248 total.
